What is modeling?

Modeling is when you find someone who is doing what you want to do or is in a place in life where you want to be and you see their behaviors, their thought process and how they make decisions and then go ahead to replicate it.

And when we talk about thought process, here's what we actually mean:

If I do what a successful person does, If I think and make decisions the way a successful person does, then I'll ultimately reach that success.

The truth is…

When it comes to business, there are different levels of success. And to reach a particular level of success, you need to possess the leadership and management skills it will take to get there.

For example in the real estate business…

Let's say you handle everything that has to do with acquisition, marketing, transaction, dispo, and you are closing up to ten deals a month. That's really cool.

But eventually, you'll have to make a decision if you are okay with these results or not because…

What got you to where you are right now, is not going to take you to the next level in your business. This is where you start growing a team to magnify your result.

Now, when it comes to growing a team, there are two components involved. The management and the leadership component which I just talked about.

That means if you've never managed or led a team before, you'll have to develop your management and leadership skill set. The good thing is, it can be learned. And as you grow them, you'll be able to grow your result.

John C. Maxwell has a saying I love so much. He talks about this law of the lid. It says that:

On a scale of 1-10, if you're a level 4 leader, your organization is going to be capped as a level 4 organization. But if you develop your leadership skill set to level 8, your organization is going to grow alongside you to that level 8 organization.

In essence, what I'm trying to say is: You have to identify the person that you need to become just like the modeling example I gave at the beginning.

Find the person who's doing what you want to do, who has what you want to have and become that person by adopting their behaviors, and the way they think and make decisions.

Once you start doing these things, you'll become that person and ultimately have the things that person has. It's that simple.

Now, once your management and leadership skill set is developed, you'll eventually magnify your results and reach that ultimate pinnacle of where you want to be, which is freedom and the benefits that come with it.

Freedom is the reason people get into real estate. We want to do what we want, when we want and spend time with the people we love.

But then again, to experience this kind of Freedom, you have to do things that you've never done before. So here's what I want you to do this week.

I challenge you to think and ask yourself these questions:

What is the person that I have to become? What do I need to do to become that person to have that freedom that I want? Then get to work and don't stop until you become that person.
